Learn the facts about the personal costs of a poor habit - EDUCATE!
Realize the burden and disappointment one puts on family, friends, and society with the poor habit.
Get emotionally charged with the prospect of making the change; recognize one's abilities and past accomplishments that show the capacity to make the change.
Carefully consider how one started the bad habit and why.
Make a deep committment to the desired change.
Reward oneself appropriately for the real progress in change.
Recognize, know, and consciously encounter the thoughts that keep reccurring in the bad habit.
Strip your environment of temptations as much as possible, and choose new and empowering people and places.
Arrange help and support from others.
No matter what you are attempting to change, implementing the above suggestions will certainly empower your inner strengths and desires to accomplish a happy, healthy life.
